“Although Habitat for Humanity of Greater Portland attempts to serve all of the towns in Cumberland County, it is impractical for us to join many of the various Chambers in our affiliate area.  Nevertheless, the Freeport Chamber is one that we are excited to be a member of because it is so active and vital.  The networking and Business After hours events have been tremendously helpful in creating new friendships, and in sharing news regarding Habitat’s building efforts in Freeport.  In addition, the Chamber staff are very helpful and personable, and they do an outstanding job of representing and promoting Freeport.   Through the many events and educational offerings, I have not only met many wonderful people, I have learned a great deal about “how business works” in Freeport.   I have commented a number times that we love building in Freeport, as we are doing now, and the Freeport Chamber is a very important reason why.”

George Ellis, Development Director, Greater Portland Habitat for Humanity

“I market my services almost exclusively through personal networking and word of mouth. That is most successful when you are active in the local business community. The Chamber offers the best opportunity for community involvement and meeting the people I need to know.”

Harry Hopcroft, Technology Management Consulting

I have lived in Freeport for 24 years and know a lot of people.  I have been amazed at all of the NEW people I’ve met since we joined the Greater Freeport Chamber last Fall.

I recently enlisted the service of a Freeport florist and an area photographer, both Chamber members, for our hotel. I believe these business to business connections will be very beneficial to all members in the future.  We love doing business with those in the area.

Because of Winn’s encouragement to network (when I was trying to sneak out) I met Bruce Bowers from Grip Wet.  Grip Wet makes tubs & floors non-slip.  I was going to use an out of state company to do this, even had a contract to be signed.  After meeting Bruce, I got a bid from him that was HALF of the cost that I had been quoted and a better warranty.   Needless to say I signed with Grip Wet and have been very happy with the results. I now have a new friend Bruce to introduce to others at meetings!

I “connected” with a lovely couple from the UK-Carolyn and Nick Abbott. They joined the chamber around the same time I did and we were interested in each other’s products. Initially, they thought they wanted to use the Send Out Cards as a marketing tool to follow up with their customers, who order their products on line. But, after watching the DVD about the “opportunity” in Send Out Cards, they decided to join as distributors…Since they spend some of their time in the UK, part of my “team” is branching out in the UK and more importantly, I have met 2 wonderful friends.
